As mentioned in our previous post there was an issue with the camper. The trailer the camper was sitting on was bending. As you can imagine this is not good. Luckily we have some wonderful family members who can provide some support over the phone. We owe Ash and Cody a big thank you! They helped us find a trailer shop in Albuquerque. Unfortunately, the shop said it would be 10-days before they could get to our camper. They did, however, give us the name of the a welding shop that might be able to help us sooner. Luckily SMR welding was going to be able to give us a new and sturdier trailer front in just a few days. We decided the best thing to do would be to leave the camper with them and journey onward! We will take a slightly different route leaving LA and be back in Albuquerque to pick the camper up on Monday.
In between getting quotes and figuring out what to do with the camper we did get a chance to enjoy some of Albuquerque. We had a delicious breakfast at the Standard Diner. We also walked around a bit of Old Town Plaza and enjoyed some of the shops and galleries.
We then enjoyed a beautiful drive through the New Mexico and Arizona and arrived at the Painted Desert and Petrified Forest National Park with just an hour to go before they closed. Even though it was a bit of a time crunch to get through the park before it closed it was fantastic stop.
We then continued towards Flagstaff. If you are a fan of the movie Cars you might recognize one of the billboards we passed. It is located by the Jackrabbit Trading Post. We ended our night at the Twin Arrows Casino and Resort. We didn't hit up the slots but we did have a pretty spectacular view from our room.
