Big Decisions on the Road

Submitted by caseyineichen on

Alright time to play a little catch up with our posts.

As we left LA Saturday afternoon, we had to start thinking ahead to picking up the camper in Albuquerque. It was becoming clear that either the camper or the Vibe would not be making it back to Wisconsin with us. Sunday was spent driving and researching our options. Either we needed a new car or we needed to find a place to store the camper, neither was an ideal option.

On Monday we arrived back in Albuquerque and picked up the camper. The welding shop showed us the work they had done, and they had even done it for less than we'd thought! Once hooked up to the Vibe though it was clear we should not be going hundreds of miles with it. So we found a place to park it and went to investigate some of the cars our research had turned up. Long story short, we bought a car! It is a 2017 Jeep Cherokee Latitude.

We ended up being in Albuquerque until Tuesday morning getting everything squared away. Then it was time for us to hit the road again. We spent the day getting to Colorado Bend State Park. It was going to be a late arrival, but we had learned from earlier in our trip and called ahead to get the gate code.

Wednesday morning started with some hiking in the park. Our first hike was out to Gorman Falls, which was beautiful. We then hiked along the Spicewood Springs. Both made it a worthwhile stop if you are ever in the area.

We then journeyed onward to Sea Rim State Park at the border of Texas and Louisiana. It was a long and rainy drive and we may be getting a toll bill from the city of Houston, but we did manage to make it before the gate was closed for the night.
