The Voyage Begins

Submitted by jwineichen on

Due to a needed change in plans (did you know Casey started a new Master's degree program?), Casey and I are taking separate paths getting to Washington. She's got class all week, so she's hopping on a flight Friday night, while I drove the camper out all day Tuesday and most of Wednesday. I spent the night at Salt Fork State Park in Eastern Ohio. The park has quite a bit of different wildlife, as well as an old stone house dating from the 1840's that's now a museum.

After exploring Salt Fork State Park for a couple hours, I hooked the camper back up and headed eastward again. Crossing over the Ohio River into West Virginia brought me into the Allegheny portion of the Appalachian Mountains. In order to get through the Appalachian divide, I passed through the Sideling Hill Cut in Maryland. After that, it was mostly downhill to Washington D.C.
